Simple as that. What kind of car can be imported to the United States for under $10k? Cool stuff only.

Import yourself to PA and buy my car. Then import you and the car back!

Yup I know. I thought it I’d say it as a joke. I got some parts coming in the mail for it.

Meh, not really my think. But probably a good option.

Haha, looks pretty rust free no?
![]() 05/07/2015 at 20:50 |

Yeah its pretty clean. It has a bit on the front and surface rust on the engine cover which you can replace with a new one so I may do that if I get it running the way it should.

Nice, not too many clean AW11s out there!

Strictly speaking I paid the equivalent of $7,400 for my bone-stock mint condition R32 GTS-t Type M 2 door. But yeah, when you buy the car in Japan yourself and import it yourself anything is possible.

I wanted a cheap and unique daily driver that I could tune and this was the solution. 350PS @ engine with 1270kg or so. No airbags, no ABS, no traction control. 100% bullshit free front engine rear wheel drive with a 5 speed gearbox. If you want you can kill the HICAS (rear wheel steering) too. Did I mention they have a huge boot and seat 5? (4 if you’re American-sized).
This is a car made in 1990 that was first released in 1989 and comes with the following:
Power steering, power windows, central locking (not keyless unfortunately but you can fix that yourself), rear windscreen wiper, power folding mirrors, fully automatic digital climate control, rear wheel steering (HICAS, which some people don’t like), and a Sony CD player tape deck combo unit. All of this was standard except for the CD player (a $500 option at the time, stock is tape deck/radio only). For the Type M package (which 99% of them are) alloy wheels and disc brakes are standard all round. 4 pot front, 2 pot rear with 16” alloys.
The only downside is they do not come with any cup holders standard. This can be rectified with the dealer option armrest extension which includes two upholders as well as a card/parking pass holder. It also moves the armrest further up so you can actually use it as an armrest.
I collect a lot of the more stupid OEM options, such as a fridge in the glovebox (yes, it works) and a towel holder in the boot. These cars were about $30,000 new in 1989 money, so add in inflation and all that crap and they weren’t exactly cheap.

I’m working on this for a while now. $10k easily gets you a 205 GTI or BMW E30 Touring. I know because I own both. I could have my E30 at an eastern US port for $5.5k. Other good options are an original Mini, LR Defender, Citroën 2CV/CX/BX/XM, and many more. The sky’s the limit really, the only problem is availability as mandatorymandatory safety and emission inspections kill many cars before they’re 25 years old.

You should be able to get some of the less powerful versions of the renault 5 turbo.

Peugeot Mi 16 is also fun.
Citroen BX is also nice and french.
if you want something sporty and weird: Matra Murena or Bagheera.
What do you want? something sporty? something weird? something exciting?

Exciting more than anything, haha.
